Ever since PvP was reintroduced to the game, I thought that all the components we have in Landmark should allow the creation of a simple MOBA game. After just a couple of days of building and experimenting, I actually succeeded. I had to test it first, otherwise this series could have ended somewhere in the middle instead of where it should end: with a properly functioning MOBA game.
Part 1 will give you an overview of the game setup, the functions, the settings and the victory conditions. The upcoming parts will explain the functions in detail and give instructions on how to set them up.

The battlefield is symmetrically divided into two triangles, each harboring the keep of a team. The keeps were created with the fortress parts provided by the game. The other two corners have towers. There are three paths connecting both keeps. Two of those go along the walls of the battlefield. They are walked by the teams' NPC creeps while a third path goes right across the battlefield, which is free of NPC creeps. The third path crosses a ritual place that summons a Magma Giant. Above the battlefield is a UFO-like observation platform that allows players to observe the game below, repair their gear, fix their hair or store items in the bank.

A team can score points by doing one of the following four items:
1. Player kills
For every player kill scored, the team earns 5 points while the opposing team receives a penalty of 2 points.
2. NPC creeps When one of your NPC creeps reaches the other team's keep, it will despawn and score one point for your team. It is therefore important for you to make sure that your NPC creeps reach the enemy's keep while at the same time trying to kill your enemy's NPC creeps before they reach your keep. Note that the NPC creeps in this game do not attack.
3. Corner Towers
Players can control the corner towers by capturing the control points within. These control points grant 5 points every 15 seconds to the capturing team until the game ends or the enemy takes over the control point. It takes 5 seconds to capture the control point.
4. Magma Giant
In the center of the map is a ritual spot that will spawn a Magma Giant 1 minute after the game has started. Killing the Magma Giant grants 25 points to the team whose player made the final hit. A timer of 1 minute will then trigger smoke to arise around the ritual site, indicating that something is going to happen soon. Another 2 minutes later red flames will ignite inside the braziers and another minute later 2 Dark Elves will appear that summon the Magma Giant. The giant is chained to his spot, meaning that if a player attacks him and runs away, the giant will only follow to a certain point. He then turns neutral, returns to his spot and becomes attackable again.
The game ends when one team reaches 150 points or the game time of 20 minutes runs out.
